Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry with Red Wine

This is the type of meal where following directions is not needed, well for me anyways. πŸ™‚ It’s more a ‘taste as you go’. Not much to a stir fry and you can make it anyway you choose as long as you have the basic ingredients.

Ingredients

1 beef sirloin steak ( left over steak is fine )

Veggies:
Broccoli
Onion
Garlic
Carrots
Green Pepper or other colours
Baby corn ( canned )
Zucchini
Celery
Mushrooms

Sauce:
Soy Sauce
Oyster Sauce
Water
Beef Boullion
Red Wine
Water
Virgin Oil
Cornstarch

Prpepare

Cut the meat into strips and marinate with a small amount of soy sauce, oyster sauce and red wine. Set aside until you are ready to use. (It can be any length of time, of course the longer the better )

Cut up the amount of vegetables that you want for the size of dish you are making.

In a heated skillet add virgin oil, 1/4 of the onion chopped fine along with the garlic. Add the beef and saute till partly cooked, the meat should still be pink. Remove and add at the end.

In the same skillet add more virgin oil and I always start with the crunchy vegetables first, they take longer to cook. Then add the other vegetables depending on their size and cooking time.

Add water as you are stir frying the veggies as needed. Keep adding the vegetables, mushrooms go last. Add wine, more water if needed, soya sauce to taste, oyster sauce and a beef bouillon cube. Once that is cooked add the beef back into the skillet. Continue to add red wine freely until the sauce is to your taste.

In a cup add a couple of tablespoons of cornstarch with cold water, then add to the dish, making sure you stir as you are adding it. The sauce will thicken. Cook for a few minutes longer till ready to serve.

Add toasted almonds to the top. Serve with a bed of rice if desired.

A easy meal to prepare during the week. You can use any vegetables that you have on hand.

Pair with a nice glass of the red wine you have been using. πŸ™‚ Enjoy.
