Mint Mombo Martini


With spring emerging and the onset of warmer temps, the season conjures up visions of relaxing on a deck chair and just taking in all the sunshine and fresh air the day has to offer. It’s also a great time to create new cocktails and martinis for summer entertaining and barbecuing.

The Ironworks Distillery in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia distills a wonderful ‘Pear Eau De Vie’ traslated as ‘water of life’. It’s a delicious fruit brandy made from the Barlett and Clapp’s pears from the Annapolis Valley.

I decided on fresh mint to compliment this tasty fruit brandy…

Ingredients

3-4 mint leaves, muddled or used a spoon
2 slices of fresh ginger, pressed or chopped finely
2 oz Pear Eau De Vie fruit brandy
1 oz sparkling water
1 squeeze fresh lime
Lemon slices
Pear slices
1/2 oz Canadian Maple Syrup
Ice

Prepare

In a shaker add the mint, ginger, Pear Eau De Vie, sparkling water, syrup and lime. Add the ice and shake well. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with a fresh sprig of mint, a slice of lemon and pear.
